SUPRICK TOPS PATRIOT RUN

CANANDAIGUA, NY...George Suprick, from Clark Summit, PA took the 20-lap Patriot Sprint car main last Saturday at Canandaigua Speedway. "We like to run with the World of Outlaw cars (scheduled to run at both Lebanon Valley and Rolling Wheels Raceway during the week)," stated Suprick. "We're here for this race and for those shows also."

The 20-lap main started off with Chuck Hebing taking the lead at the drop of the green. Veteran driver George Ely, from Jordan, NY, and not a stranger to the speedway, followed in second. Blake Breen was in third and Kyle Drum fourth.

Hebing was able to stretch out a five car advantage in just one lap. Drum over shot the first turn and sailed off the track and into the concrete on lap two to bring out the yellow.

The restart saw the number 51 of Bryan Howland go up in smoke down the front stretch. Oil smoke was pouring from under the hood and he came to a halt in the first turn.

Hebing now saw a six lap run of green and stretched out nearly a fifteen car lead over Darren Long, who was flying through the pack. Long tried as hard as he could muster, closing the gap built by Hebing. His efforts were just too much, as he spun off the fourth turn, on lap nine, to bring out the third yellow of the race. This turned second over to Suprick, who had taken third from Breen on lap seven.

The restart saw Hebing try to stretch out his lead, but Suprick held strong as these two pulled away from the rest of the field. In just three laps they had a full straight away advantage over Ely, now running in third.

Suprick then ducked low exiting the fourth turn and took the lead from Hebing to complete lap 14. Hebing seemed to bobble some during this move. This allowed Suprick to immediately gain a seven car advantage on the former leader.

Suprick sailed home the winner followed by Hebing, Ely, Breen and Doug Norrie.

PATRIOT MOVES: Twenty-nine sprinters were on hand for the special program with a few teams traveling as far as from Ohio and Connecticut...Two flips during the heats slowed the action...The Patriots return to their home track, Black Rock Speedway, this Saturday.
