PSG BACK AT CANANDAIGUA MAY 29TH BELFAST, NY -- In a break from the Saturday Night routine, the Bobcat of Buffalo Patriot Sprint Group will return to the road and race at Canandaigua Speedway May 29. Typically, the Bobcat of Buffalo Patriot Sprint Group contingent has been mud-collecting at Black Rock Speedway through the first four weeks of the sprint season. Black Rock has changed their race night to Saturday and the PSG has signed on to race 19 events at the four-tenths mile Dundee oval through the summer of 2004. Canandaigua and Black Rock will trade classes: The DIRT Sportsman will race Black Rock for Canandaigua Track points and the PSG will run with the Modifieds, Pro Stocks and Street Stocks as part of the Payne Building & Contracting-Payne Tiltbed Service Taney Memorial. The mods will have a 50-lap feature; general admission is $15. Last year, Kyle Drum appeared to have the win in the bag when the PSG visited Canandaigua July 5. Drum leading by over a half-lap. He tagged the second turn wall and the rear end seized up, handing the win to Tim Barnard. When the tour passed through the Land of Legends in late August (Aug. 23), modified racer Chuck Hebing parked is R.C. Faigle owned No. 21C on the inside groove and drove the winged car like a modified. It proved to be the most efficient plan of action as he collected the win. Rich Swarthout has fixed his No. 5S after a violent flip at Afton Speedway. "Once you straighten the car, the car doesn't know it was ever bent," Swarthout said. "I guess its been broken in now, so we will see how it goes." Swarthout won the opening show at Black Rock Speedway a month ago (April 24). He led the point chase for the successive three weeks as the track washed out. Rick Wilson is leading the tour points. Road shows are worth double points toward the Bobcat of Buffalo Patriot Sprint Group Driving Championship. Wilson, the PSG Career wins Leader (5 victories) won at a rough and tumble show at Afton Speedway May 7. It was the Series' first touring show of 2004 and to date, their second show of the season. Jared Zimbardi rides second ahead of Don Adamczyk and former CNY Mini Sprint runner Doug Norrie. Rookie standout and CNY Mini Sprint carry-over Bryan Howland rides fifth. While the PSG is at Canandaigua, the BRS fans will not be without winged-car action. The CNY Mini Sprints will be in action, underscoring the DIRT Sportsman event. After Canandaigua, the Bobcat of Buffalo Patriot Sprint Group will return to Black Rock on June 5. They will then travel to Thunder Alley Speedway in Evans Mills, NY for a race Thursday June 10 before finishing the month of June at Black Rock. The PSG will be racing in Dundee each of the three remaining Saturdays without a touring show. Those dates are June 12, June 19 and June 26. The Bobcat of Buffalo Patriot Sprint Group is located at 11 Pike St., Belfast, NY. They host racing in New York, Pennsylvania and Southern Canada throughout the summer, racing from May into October.
