The yellow flew just after a Cartwright did not get off the track and stalled in pit lane. The green came out again, this time with Darryl Ruggles a the leader. Charlie Donk followed Paine to the front and was running second, with former feature winner Vic Coffey in third. The yellow flew again on lap 14 when Ruggles slowed on the speedway. Paine now held off brilliant charge by Donk for the lead, using the high grove. Gary Tomkins sailed into third wit Justin Haers in tow. This pushed Coffey back to fifth. The final yellow of the race came on lap 29 when Shannon Whaley spun violently in the second turn, breaking hi suspension. This set up a five lap dash to the checkers. Lewis the proceeded to hold off the advances of Adam Depuy, until lap six when Depuy ducked low to take the lead. The first of just three yellows flew on lap eight, when Lewis, who was running second spun on the back stretch after losing air in one of his rear tires. This put Blane Smith on Depuy's back bumper. Smith did no take long to make his presents known, taking the lead down the back stretch on lap 10. Two additional yellows seemed to slow the race. The most questionable of these came when Mike Minutolo, running in third made contact with Depuy sending the Depuy car spinning in the first turn.
