CANANDAIGUA CANCELS DUE TO RAIN
CANANDAIGUA, NY...The much looked for Canandaigua Motors night featuring both the 50-lap Taney Memorial for DIRT Modifieds and the first appearance of the Patriot Sprint Cars was wash out last Saturday.
Rains hit the Greater Rochester Region Friday evening and were projected to continue for the next five days. This was the speedways first wash out for the 2003 season.
"We had to call it early," stated a dejected general manager Jeff Farney. "A number of teams were going to travel a good distance. It was only fair to give them the chance to save some money on travel expenses."
Currently the Patriot Sprint Car organization is looking at a possible reschedule date for their portion of the night's activities. As for the 50-lap Taney Memorial, Mother-Nature will go in the record books as the winner.
This Saturday will be United Steel Workers Local 3298 night at Canandaigua Speedway. A complete regular Four Star show has been planned featuring the DIRT Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro-Stocks and Street Stocks. Race time will begin at 7 p.m. sharp.
