CANANDAIGUA SPEEDWAY OFFERS JOSHCOMP PRO STOCK BONUS PLAN
CANANDAIGUA, NY.....Castle Car Care Products and Canandaigua Carpets are the major race sponsors at the Ontario County Fairgrounds on June 23 as Canandaigua Speedway hosts a four-star race program of DIRT Modifieds, Sportsmen, Pro Stocks and Street Stocks plus a special appearance by the Central New York Mini Sprints.
While F-L Castle continues its tradition in wine country of awarding all feature race winners with a complimentary package of Castle Hi-Tech Chemicals on it's special race night, the initial involvement by Joshcomp will be carried throughout the entire season at the popular "Land of Legends" speedplant.
The recently instituted Joshcomp Back-to-Back Bonus Program will give Pro Stock teams an even greater incentive to win in 2002. A $100.00 award is earned by any Pro Stock driver able to win two straight features at Canandaigua, with that sum rolled over by $100.00 each race until the bonus is claimed.
Joshcomp is a company based in Canandaigua, N.Y. that services AMX and Crestron control systems. Joshcomp's president, George Buksar, along with his son, Josh, are frequent visitors to Canandaigua Speedway and recently joined forces with top Pro Stocker Jon Miller and his no. 9 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Currently the high-point man at Canandaigua, Miller opened the new season with five wins in the first eight 20-lap Pro Stock main events. On two occasions he captured back-to-back feature victories; Jipp Ortiz (2) and James Henry are the only other winners in the Fairgrounds' top full-fender division.
Five different winners have emerged in the big-block Modified division, and once again it's Steve Paine leading the point standings with three feature race triumphs garnered in wine country. More responsible for his climb to the top have been six top-five finishes and all top-ten tallies in the first eight feature races run in '02.
Points runner-up Gary Tomkins and closest follower Tim McCreadie each own one feature win while 6th-place point-getter Billy Decker (2) and season-opener winner Alan Johnson account for the remainder. Paine's teammate Vic Coffey and consistent frontrunner Vince Vitale fill out the top-5 in points.
Top traveler Randy Chrysler (3 wins) retains the Sportsman points lead in his first full season at Canandaigua although local pilot John Plumb (2) has continued to reduce the deficit by posting higher finishes for three consecutive weeks. Eldon Payne,Jr. (1), Todd Henderson (1) and John Pfeffer round out the top-5 in points with four winners coming in the last four shows.
So far enjoying the biggest car counts on a weekly basis, the ever-growing Street Stock class is led by Adam DePuy. While first in points, DePuy remains winless although the first five challengers have all cracked the winner's circle at least once: Tim Burnell, Nick Rizzo (2), Leroy Lewis, Jared Labarge and Mike Minutolo (2).
Canandaigua Speedway is located at the Fairgrounds just east of the city, deep in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. Race fans can use either Exit 43(traveling west) or Exit 44(eastward) of the New York State Thruway on the way to the Ontario County oval.
