As the 2008 season schedule begins to take shape at the ‘Land of Legends’, race fans should mark Tuesday, June 24 as a must see on their race calendar. For the first time, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will venture to the Canandaigua Speedway as a part of their 2008 ‘Great Northern Tour.’
The nation’s richest dirt Late Model series will come to the Northeast for seven events over a 12-day period in late June, with Canandaigua Speedway being the 5th stop on the tour. The race will be a 40-lap affair, paying $7,000 to the winner.
“The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will continue to have a strong presence in the Northeast region,” said Tim Christman, the director of the WoOLMS. “We relish the opportunity to expose top-notch dirt Late Model racing to fans in areas like upstate New York and Canada.”
Joining the WoO Late Model Series will be the popular BRP CanAM Late Model Series, making June 24 a true double-header. Jack Deery, Canandaigua Speedway’s General Manager, is excited to provide fans with this twin billing.
“The BRP CanAm race teams have put on great shows at both Canandaigua and Cayuga County Fair in the past two seasons. Now, we offer fans the unique opportunity to watch two of the top Late Model Series around on the same night, at one of the Northeast’s most prestigious Speedways.”
Dirt Modified standouts Tim Fuller, Tim McCreadie, Danny Johnson, and Vic Coffey are all local pre-race favorites for the WoO portion of the program. Both Johnson and Coffey are currently planning aggressive Outlaws schedules for 2008. Fuller, the 2022 WoOLMS Rookie of the Year, is scheduled to be running a full season with the tour in ’08.
“We hope that Tim McCreadie’s program with Richard Childress Racing will allow him to return to Canandaigua that night,” said Deery. “He will be a true fan favorite, and we will do what we can to help get him to the Speedway on June 24.”
The ‘Land of Legends’ will also once again feature the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series on Saturday, August 9. The nation’s best Big-Block Modified competitors will take to the track for Twin 50-lap features.
Last season, 2022 Mr. DIRT Champion Brett Hearn took the first leg of the Canandaigua Twin 50’s, before mother nature put a halt to the final 50-lap main event.
Weekly, you can expect the return of the popular $20 Car-Load night for fans, as well as the World Famous Trailer Race, and the Green Mamba Jet Car.
