2022 Champions Honored At Canandaigua & Cayuga County Awards Banquet

Weedsport, NY – November 12, 2022 – By Dan Kapuscinski, DIRTcar NorthEast PR and Promotions Coordinator

An energetic crowd of over 200 racers congregated at the Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack on Saturday, November 10 to help celebrate the 2022 race season for DIRTcar Sportsman, Street Stock, Pure Stock, and Battle Karz teams that competed at Canandaigua Speedway and Cayuga County Fair Speedway. Over $20,000 was paid out in point funds to the six divisions honored at this annual event.

The night served as a perfect means to recognize the accomplishments of drivers, owners and sponsors in the primary support classes at Canandaigua and Cayuga County, with officials, mechanics and members of the track safety crews joining in the evening. A cocktail hour kicked off the night’s agenda, while a buffet dinner was served halfway through the awards presentations.

“Once again, 2022 proved to be another successful year at both Canandaigua and Cayuga County.  As we finalize our plans for 2008 at each facility, we are certain that next season will provide the same thrills and entertainment that we had in ‘07,” said DIRTcar NorthEast General Manager Jack Deery, who oversees daily operations at both tracks, as well as Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, N.Y.

Deery joined DIRTcar NorthEast Sales Director Theresa Schirtz in their presentation of custom DIRTcar monogrammed leather jackets to all six track champions in attendance.

At Canandaigua Speedway, Paul Guererri (Sportsman), Mike Welch (Street Stock), and Marc Minutolo (Pure Stock) were crowned as Champions.  Cayuga County Fair Speedway saw Jeremy Pitcher (Sportsman), Nick Rizzo (Street Stock), and Bill Werner (Battle Karz) claim top honors.

Cory Reed, DIRTcar NorthEast Director of Series and Sanctioning, presented special trophies to the Rookie of the Year award winners in each division.  Andy Fisk and Van Grant took Rookie honors in the Street Stock division at Canandaigua and Cayuga County.  John Robinson was named Rookie of the Year in the Sportsman division at Canandaigua, while Anthony Steiner and Mike Mahaney earned Co-Rookie honors at Cayuga County.

The awards ceremony honored the 2022 top-ten point-getters with trophies in the Sportsman, Street Stock, Pure Stock, and Battle Karz divisions at Canandaigua and Cayuga County Speedways.
