Canandaigua Speedway Show Falls To Rain On Saturday

Canandaigua, NY – August 25, 2022 – By Gary M. Spaid, Canandaigua Speedway PR

Rain moved into the area on Saturday just as the second Sportsman heat was taking to the track, forcing track officials to postpone the remainder of the race program at Canandaigua Speedway. The rains started out as a brief sprinkle, but became steadier as time progressed.

“We were looking at a minimum of an hour to get the track back into shape and that would be with the help of every car in the pit area,” commented Race Director Jeff Farney. “When we saw lightening we knew that would do us in for the night.”

The sole Sportsman heat run was won by Nick Guererri.

General Manager Jack Deery has decided to run double features in all divisions next Saturday, September 1, with the second features being lined up based on handicapping. The PureStox and Street Stock division had completed their qualifying portion of the program.

“We know track points end next week and we want to give our race teams every chance to gain valuable points towards the Canandaigua track titles,” Deery said. Currently all final races will offer single points only.

Rain checks would be honored from this past Saturday, making for a great “Racing Bargain”. Race time is set for 7 p.m. sharp.
