August DIRTcar Racing Agenda Jammed With Super DIRTcar Series Specials

The month of August is the busiest yet on the DIRTcar Racing NorthEast schedule as 10 Super DIRTcar Series events are currently on the agenda for teams chasing their respective overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship in 2022.

 

The Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds is easily the fullest during the final month of regular season competition on the DIRTcar NE circuit, with seven extra-distance events lined up in 17 days for the top traveling teams.

 

“This is what its all about for our top racers, a lot of high-profile shows with a chance to earn a lot of money at the end,” said DIRTcar Racing NorthEast Director of Competition & Track Sanctioning Cory Reed. “And every event offers fans and racers some of the best competition found anywhere in the nation today.”

 

Brewerton Speedway kicks off the month staging an Advance Auto Parts Series special in its regular Friday night (Aug. 3) time slot before Merrittville Speedway hosts the final trip (Aug. 6) across the Canadian border featuring a popular pre-race pasta dinner. Canandaigua Speedway (Aug. 9) runs during Watkins Glen Cup week while Lebanon Valley Speedway’s Party Weekend begins Friday before the checkered flag flies over the Advance Auto Parts all-star field on Saturday (Aug. 11). All eyes will be on the ‘Big Bear 60’ at New Egypt Speedway (Aug. 15) in the Garden State before Can-Am Motorsports Park (Aug. 18) in the north country and centrally located Cayuga County Fair Speedway (Aug. 19) present a rare in-season weekend Super DIRTcar Series doubleheader.

 

Fueled by the return of the customary twin-bill at autodromes Drummond and Granby, the upcoming Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Championship Series gets underway on Aug. 20-21 in Quebec. 2022 marks the 25^th consecutive year that an overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Champion will be crowned in the 358-Mod ranks. The journey north of the border spotlights the first-ever Small-Block twin-bill, although the Advance Auto Parts Series for Big-Block Modifieds was showcased in back-to-back events at both tracks from the mid-1980s until the start of the new millennium.

 

The lone Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock Super Series presented by Caprara Bros. Outdoor Toy Store event of the month is slated for Brewerton Speedway on Aug. 24 after high winds and heavy rain forced track officials to postpone the June 8 show. Nathan Peckham from Seneca Falls, Lyons’ Mike Welch and Andy Fisk from Williamson collected heat race wins back in June to earn up front starting spots, with the remainder of the line-up determined from the list of respective heat race qualifiers.

 

Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series activity for both Sportsman Modified and Pro Stock title contenders resumes over the Labor Day Weekend, with Rolling Wheels Raceway Park holding the second Sportsman tour event of ’07 on Sept. 3 while Pro Stocks will be in action at Cornwall (Ont.) Motor Speedway on Sept. 2 competing in the headline Jiffy Auto Service 150, that includes round three of the Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Series.

 

Brett Hearn (Mod), Alan Fink (Spt), Allen Peters (Pro) and Scott Smith (Sts) currently lead the point standings with the month of August set to begin.
