Caprara Bros. Toy Store Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock Series Doubles On Weekend
Weedsport, NY – July 17, 2022 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast PR Director
Early season points leader Adam DePuy will be looking to three-peat when Can-Am Motorsports Park hosts the third round in the Caprara Bros. Outdoor Toy Store Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock Super Series on July 21. DePuy will get a second chance the following night as Rolling Wheels Raceway Park hosts a second 25-lapper on Sunday.
With a pair of wins already scored at Black Rock and Cayuga County Fair speedways, DePuy leads the top tour travelers north to take on the best home teams at the LaFargeville, N.Y. half-mile layout in the first fast-paced, full-fender shootout. Chasing DePuy on the Super Series points chart are Darl Ellis, Scott Smith, Nathan Peckham and Dave Marcuccilli, with Can-Am’s Saturday night stockers led by Jerrod Radley, Dave Pope, Todd Raabe, Kenny Hamm and Steve Rookie. The July 22 show spotlights the first Street Stock appearance of the season on Rolling Wheels’ spacious 5/8-miler, with return appearances set for the popular Elbridge oval on Sept. 3 and Sept. 21.
While DIRTcar Racing has recognized champions since it was established during the Bicentennial, 2022 marks the first time an overall Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock titlist will be crowned.
The inaugural Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock Super Series consists of 12 races staged at a half-dozen central New York tracks throughout the summer along with the lone stop in the north country at Can-Am scheduled for Saturday. Each of the DIRTcar Street Stock Super Series events offers a minimum winner’s share of $500 while the overall Super Series champion stands to collect an additional $1,000 top-prize.
With a national UMP point fund also at stake in ’07, the first-ever DIRTcar NorthEast Championship for these true weekend warriors continues to emphasize the significance of grassroots racing. Street Stocks have been the backbone of weekly shows since the organization originated in 1976 and the upcoming season has sparked a renewed interest in entry-level racing around the entire NE circuit.
