June Opens With $20 CarLoad Nite, Sportsman Double At Canandaigua Speedway

Canandaigua, NY - May 28, 2022 - Tom Skibinski, Canandaigua Speedway PR Director

The second full month of DIRTcar Racing at Canandaigua Speedway begins with a special $20 CARLOAD night backed by The WALL 99.3FM Radio on June 2.

Sportsman Modifieds move into the spotlight on Saturday running a pair of 20-lap main events as the DIRTcar Modifieds have the night off with many planning to participate in the Five Star Series opener scheduled the same evening at Can-Am Motorsports Park. DIRTcar/UMP Street Stock and PureStox divisions will also be on the race card along with round two of the WNYR 98.5 "Crazy Chicks-n-Cars Catfight."

Spectator gates will swing open at 5 p.m. on Saturday with the first qualifying heat rolling off the line promptly at 7 o'clock. Pit gates are slated to unlock at 4 p.m. for all competitors.

Five Sportsman features, five winners have made this Canandaigua's most competitive open-wheel division in 2022 as points leader Todd Henderson, Scott Schrader, Dan Wiesner, Paul Guererri and most recently Kevin Ridley have found victory lane. The weekly $100 crate motor bonus program has proven to be a given as only Schrader has won without a crate engine locked under the hood. Defending points champion Henderson won the season-opener and currently leads Loren Lincoln in this year's title chase.

Full-fender activity continues to be just as fierce at the popular Routes 5&20 oval with 10 different winners in 10 events. Three-time track points champion Mike Welch is knotted with Blane Smith atop the Street Stock standings while just four markers separate veteran Les Excell and rookie Marc Minutolo in the PureStox ranks. All four drivers have already made a trip to victory lane this season at the popular 'Land of Legends' half-mile layout.

When the mighty DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds return to action at the Ontario County Fairgrounds on June 9, the 'Hurricane' Steve Paine will be looking to put his new yellowbird no. 7x Troyer mount in the winner's circle for a fourth straight time. Still in search of his first Canandaigua win this season is consistent Chuck Bower, who trails the record seven-time track champion by just two points after a handful of shows.

5-PAK ticket packages continue to be available for all regular events at Canandaigua and sister track Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y. Providing a great deal for fans, each 5-PAK of tickets can be purchased for $48.00 which results in the receipt of (1) free ticket. The regular show admission is just $12 for adults (15-64 yrs.), $10 for Seniors (65 yrs. & older) and $5 for youths (10-14 yrs.) while children 9 yrs. & under are free.

Canandaigua Speedway on the Ontario County Fairgrounds is located just east of the city, with the track being easily accessible by using either Exit 44 (traveling east) or Exit 43 (traveling west) of the New York State Thruway. Additional information can be obtained by calling 585/394-0691 on raceday, during the week by dialing the DIRTcar Racing NorthEast office at 315/834-6606 and logging in anytime to canandaiguaspeedway.com.
