Constant Drizzle Cancels Canandaigua Speedway Show For Second Time

On again, off again rains forced DIRTcar officials at Canandaigua Speedway to call off the night’s races on Saturday. The promotion for the night offered free admission to any fan who would wear their bathing suit to the track.

 

“It was, I guess, perfect wet weather conditions for those who wore their bathing suits to the track and got in free,” stated Canandaigua Race Director Jeff Farney. “The problem was all of that rain was not what we needed for the race track.”

 

The grounds crew was on the track this morning grooming the surface for what was to be the second event of the season. After the pits opened, the tow trucks stayed busy pulling cars and haulers out of the muddy soft spots throughout the pit area. Some 23 DIRT Sportsman, 16 DIRTcar Street Stocks and 19 DIRT Modifieds had already checked in before the event was officially cancelled prior to the 5:00 p.m. start time.

 

The month of May opens next weekend with “Cinqo de Mayo 5-5-5-5” Night on the 5th when 5 admission, 5 hot dogs, 5 fries and 5 drinks will all go for just $50 total. Race time on Saturday is 7 p.m. with pit gates unlocked at 4:00 p.m. and the main grandstands opening at 5 o’clock.
