Cayuga County & Canandaigua Welcome Back 358-Modified Teams
Weedsport, NY – April 7, 2022 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar NorthEast PR Director
Teams chasing the overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified title in 2022 have two more options available as Canandaigua Speedway and Cayuga County Fair Speedway will offer the opportunity to earn valuable points toward DIRTcar Racing’s top prize for small-block stars in the Northeast.
“There’s been a lot of interest shown from area small-block teams with sights set on the Mr. DIRT Championship,” said DIRTcar Racing NorthEast General Manager Jack Deery. “Our tracks provide two more places to race for teams looking for a weekly stop in Central New York.”
The minimum weight required for 358-Modifieds competing at Canandaigua and Cayuga County is 2400 pounds, with management reserving the right to adjust this standard in the future to maintain a fair playing field.
358-Modified drivers must attempt to qualify for a minimum of twelve (12) weekly DIRT-sanctioned events to be eligible for the 2022 Mr. DIRT title, including events at Cayuga County and Canandaigua.
Drivers will receive 1200 bonus points towards the overall Mr. DIRT Championship if they reach 12 regional races started. That total will decrease by 100 points for each start less than 12. Drivers are allowed to get their mandatory starts across all regions to collect bonus points for Mr. DIRT.
If five or more small-block powered cars compete in at least 80% of the events run at those tracks, they can also share in the DIRTcar Championship point funds allocated at season’s end.
