Rain Shuffles Practice/Media Day Saturday At Cayuga County Fairgrounds
Weedsport, NY – April 1, 2022 – By Tom Skibinski, Cayuga County Fair Speedway PR Director Rain before, during and after the 1 p.m. scheduled ‘No Foolin’ 188’ Enduro Championship at Cayuga County Fair Speedway on Sunday forced track officials to reschedule the season-opening stock car special to April 7. In lieu of the Enduro postponement to 2:30 p.m. this coming Saturday, practice that same day will now run from 12noon to 2 p.m. with area media members invited to share in the opening day activites in the track clubhouse located directly behind the main covered grandstand.
“We were looking forward to a great turnout to kick-off our 53rd straight season here in Weedsport but the weatherman just never gave us a chance,” said Cayuga County General Manager Jack Deery.
Fans are invited to enjoy the free grandstand admission when the cars return to the high-banked 3/8-miler on Saturday for hot laps beginning at noon. Pits will open at 11 a.m. and the entrance fee will be $10.00. Once the warm-up session concludes at 2 p.m., both the pits and main grandstand areas will be cleared. Adult general admission is $10.00 and the pit fee is $20.00 upon re-entry.
An open invitation has once again been extended for all area media members to attend with a luncheon served immediately following opening remarks made at noon. Those media in attendance can pick up a press packet filled with newsworthy notes and season schedules along with track stats for Cayuga County, Rolling Wheels and Canandaigua, then visit the CCFS pits for exclusive photo opportunities and one-on-one interviews with many of the drivers signed in for practice. A highlight of the afternoon activities will be the opportunity to take a fast ride around the Weedsport oval in a spec DIRT Modified. Deery has posted $1,000 to win the No Foolin' title race with $300 saved for second and $200 for the show position. A best decorated car contest and kid’s costume competition help fill the afternoon agenda. The No Foolin’ 188 pre-race contests begin at 2:30 p.m.
The No Foolin’ 188 is open to any four or six-cylinder hard-top passenger car, minivan and station wagons with additional cash bonuses paid to the highest finishing station wagon, min-van and automatic transmission car. The fan’s pick as best themed and/or decorated will receive the pole position starting spot. Official No Foolin’ 188 entry forms remain available on the internet at www.cayugacountyfairspeedway.com and can be obtained in person at the DIRTcar NorthEast Office located in Weedsport.
The Fairgrounds will be dark on Easter Sunday while a full show of DIRTcar Big-Block Modified, Sportsman Modified, Street Stock and Enduro racing fills the April 15 card.
