2022 State & National Funds Solid For DIRTcar Pro Stock, Street Stock Divisions
Weedsport, NY – March 21, 2022 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing PR Director
Overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRT Pro Stock champions have been recognized in the Northeast since 1995 while in 2022 the first-ever Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock titlist will be crowned. The upcoming season begins a new era in area DIRTcar Racing as the recent affiliation with DIRT’s sister sanctioning body UMP will provide an unprecedented pool of point fund money that will be paid out to national and state leaders in both full-fender divisions.
“There’s been a lot of interest and concern expressed lately around the DIRTcar circuit with Pro Stock racing,” said DIRTcar Director of Competition & Track Sanctioning Cory Reed. “We’re back stronger than ever in the full-fender ranks, not only increasing Mr. DIRT Pro Stock Series race purses but creating a championship tour for the entry-level Street Stocks. And above that, the success of our teams will also be measured on a national scale with additional monetary rewards hanging in the balance due to DIRT’s recent growth.”
The organizational name change to DIRTcar Racing encompasses both Pro Stock and Street Stock divisions, putting each in line with DIRT track affiliates across the country. In 2022, a portion of the national DIRTcar point fund will allocate more than $9,000 to the top-20 UMP/DIRTcar Pro Stock-Sportsman and UMP/DIRTcar Street Stock-Pure Stock runners with each champion collecting a $3,000 top prize. The UMP/DIRTcar New York State point fund boasts $600 to the champion and pays down through the top-10 positions.
“In 2022, DIRTcar will pay out more than $500,000 in point fund money around the country,” said UMP Division Regional Director Sam Driggers. “We’re also working on several other projects that will benefit the drivers and tracks, and the push towards memberships will help the awards program continue to grow.”
In each of the two full-fender divisions, points will be awarded nationally for the best 25 finishes while the minimal number of placements on the state level will be 15 races. Points will be awarded towards both national and state UMP/DIRTcar Championships and run from March 30 to September 30, 2022. Only drivers holding a valid 2022 DIRTcar license are eligible to compete and collect point fund money.
Top DIRTcar Pro Stock teams will continue to share in track and overall Mr. DIRT point fund awards during the 2022 season. The initial 12-race DIRTcar Street Stock Super Series leads to the crowning of an overall Mr. DIRT champion who will pocket a $1,000 top-prize while $500 is the winner’s minimum share in each Series event held.
