Top Sportsman Teams To Collect 2022 DIRTcar Regional Point Fund Awards

Weedsport, NY – March 20, 2022 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing PR Director

The DIRTcar Weekly Racing regional points program created last year will continue to remain in effect for a second successive season with DIRT Sportsman teams collecting additional rewards at the end of 2022. Over $48,000 in regional cash and prizes were distributed to more than 100 different drivers that competed last season in Sportsman as well as DIRT 358-Modified and DIRT Pro Stock classes.

“We first introduced the DIRT Regional program last winter and a lot of drivers never expected some of the awards when 2006 came to an end,” said DIRTcar Director of Competition & Track Sanctioning Cory Reed. “The secret’s out so this time around there won’t be too many surprises. I do expect a lot more competition at the weekly tracks this season now that all the drivers better understand that with success comes due rewards.”

Along with track and overall Mr. DIRT point fund awards, DIRTcar Regional Championships will again be on the line for Sportsman teams during the 2022 season. The distribution of Regional Racing Series funds in ’07 makes it the most lucrative regional post-season awards program for weekly teams found anywhere and helps DIRTcar Racing tracks and racers continue to thrive in the Northeast.

In 2022, DIRTcar-sanctioned tracks hosting the Sportsman class have been divided into three regions with teams looking to share $10,800 in cash and memberships. Licensed drivers will compete against others within their own region for a series point fund that will reward $3,600 to the top-15 in each. The regional points will be kept separately and they have no direct bearing on any individual track points race.

In each of the three Regional Championships, points will be awarded for the best finishes (15 in West, 12 in North, 15 in Central) in DIRTcar-sanctioned Sportsman events. Legal events may be of any distance and may be either home track point events, part of a special mini-series or special events at tracks within that region. Mr. DIRT Championship Series events will not count except at Rolling Wheels Raceway, where all events count for any region. Regional points will end on Monday, September 4 and only drivers holding a valid 2022 DIRTcar license are eligible to compete and collect point fund money.
