Canandaigua Speedway Drops Flag On 44^th Race Season In Ontario County

In the Spring there will be bikinis without a beach and queens arriving without their kings. Re-runs won’t be ruled out yet Dukes of Hazzard and Barney & Betty will still be among the headliners for live shows seen during summertime. And then an Utterly Unlimitedly Unfair Enduro and Smash-O-Rama Night of Destruction will ultimately bring trackside traffic to a halt. All this while the cars continue to chase the checkers at Canandaigua Speedway as DIRT MotorSports NorthEast charter member drops the green flag to start the 44^th season of auto racing in wine country.

 “We’re just looking to put a lot more fun into each show this season,” informed Canandaigua General Manager Jack Deery, now in his first year heading all raceday operations at the historic ‘Land of Legends’ oval. Deery serves in the same capacity at sister track Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y. and neighboring Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, N.Y. “Canandaigua has always been known for great racing between some of the best drivers anywhere on the DIRT circuit. Adding a little extra pizzazz every week will make the entire program one of the best values in family entertainment. The whole speedway staff can’t wait for the season to open, they know the Ontario County Fairgrounds will be a real cool place to be every Saturday night in 2022.”

Available for the first time this season are unique 5-ticket and 10-ticket packages for regular events at Canandaigua, as well as Cayuga County. Each 5-pack of tickets can be purchased for $48.00 while the cost of an individual 10-pack is $96.00. The regular adult general admission ticket price at Canandaigua is $12.00, resulting in the receipt of (1) free ticket with each 5-pack and (2) free tickets with every 10-pack ordered. “This is a great bargain with sizable savings for our loyal fans, realizing that many cannot attend every show on a weekly basis,” Deery added.

Numerous special events once again dot the Canandaigua Speedway schedule, with DIRT Big-Block Modified, DIRT Sportsman Modified, DIRTcar Street Stock and PureStox divisions showcasing regular Saturday night shows at the popular Routes 5&20 speedplant. The track opens for its first activity on April 14 and on the eve of ‘tax day’ the 1040^th guest through the gate will receive a complimentary Canandaigua Season Pass. The adult general admission ticket price is $12 for all Canandaigua regular shows in 2022, $10 for Seniors (65 yrs. plus) and $5 for children (10-14 yrs.) while fans 9 years and under are always free.

The ‘Five-Star’ Big-Block Series debuts at Canandaigua on June 2 and the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series returns August 9 with the mighty Big-Block Modifieds joined by a full show of Sportsman Modified and Street Stock action. This year’s Advance Auto Parts SDS ‘Thursday Thunder’ special features twin 50-lap main events offering valuable points towards crowning the overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRT Champion.
