2005 Canandaigua Speedway Points Champions Honored At October Banquet

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (October 4) – The 2005 Canandaigua Speedway Awards Banquet for Sportsman, Pro Stock and Street Stock teams is less than a month away with tickets continuing to sell fast for the annual autumn event. All drivers, car owners, mechanics, track officials and sponsors are invited to attend this special post-season celebration.

Once more coordinated by WACK Radio personality Chuck Brownell, the Saturday, October 29 event held at the Lyons (N.Y.) VFW on Route 14 South is expected to make for another gala affair for Canandaigua's primary support classes.

Recognition of DIRT MotorSports NorthEast track points champions Scott Schrader (Sportsman), Jipp Ortiz (Pro Stock) and Mike Welch (Street Stock) will highlight the traditional fall finale. Trophies will be presented to the top-five point-getters in all three divisions along with special recognition awards and customary 'gag' gifts. Each driver in attendance is strongly encouraged to bring a door prize.

A buffet dinner menu consisting of roast beef, chicken, sausage & shells, salt potatoes, tossed salad, rolls and coffee will be offered promptly at 6:00pm with a cash bar open for the duration. Cocktail service begins at 4:30pm. Popular disc-jockey Jim Pentycofe from "All Around Sound" will be spinning tunes throughout the evening.

Advance-sale tickets purchased BEFORE October 8 are available for $15.00 each while ticket orders postmarked after will cost $40.00 per person. Ticket requests will not be honored after Oct. 15 and no tickets will be sold at the door. Send checks, payable to Canandaigua Banquet, to Chuck Brownell at 1520 Gifford Road, Phelps, N.Y. 14532. Enclosure of a self-addressed stamped envelope is preferred for return mailing of tickets, otherwise they will be held for pick-up at the door.
