Canandaigua Speedway Rained Out For Third Time In Four Attempts CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (May 14) – With a 60% chance of rain hanging in the air, the wet stuff started to fall around 4:30 p.m. at the speedway. After an hour and a quarter of straight rain, sometimes a hard rain, the skies broke and the wet stuff started to let off. Unfortunately the rain had done its damage. And with a prediction of more rain within the next hour, general manager Jeff Farney had little choice but to call it a night. “We were going to hang on as long as we could,” Farney stated. "But we would have had to work the track in for nearly two hours before we could go racing. That would mean we could not complete the entire show, even if the rains did hold off.” Currently there has been only one night of racing at Canandaigua in the record books for 2005. Vic Coffey won the 50-lap Advance Auto Parts Modified season-opener just last week with Paul Guererri capturing the Paine Motorsports Sportsman feature, Jipp Ortiz claiming the Big Mike's Auto Repair Pro Stock main and Blane Smith copping the Parts Plus Auto Stores Street Stock finale. Canandaigua will attempt to get a second show in the books this Saturday, May 21. Race time is 7 p.m., with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. The 2005 track schedule can be found by logging into canandaiguaspeedway.com. The DIRT MotorSports™ Advance Auto Parts Modified Series is brought to fans across the Northeast by several sponsors and partners, including series sponsors Advance Auto Parts, Dynomax Performance Exhaust, Hoosier Racing Tire and Sunoco Race Fuels.
