PLANNED DOUBLE FEATURES MOVED BACK TO SATURDAY BY RAIN

CANANDAIGUA, NY..."We just can not seem to get a break," stated Canandaigua Speedway acting general manager Dave Farney referring to the rains last Saturday. With brother Jeff away on business it fell on Dave to make the decision on whether to run or cancel. His decision was made that much easier at 5:45 p.m., when rains began to fall steadily after an afternoon of on-again, off-again sprinkles.

That means that this Saturday, May 15, evening the DIRT Modifieds and Street Stocks will begin their evening running the rain delayed features from May 1. The planned double sportsman and Pro-Stock features from May 1, will now have to roll back to Saturday, May 22.

A large number of outsiders were on hand to make their debut at Canandaigua. Thirty Modifieds had checked into the pits. A number of them were not yet qualified for the rain delayed modified feature and were there in anticipation of being able to be added to the back of the rain delayed consolation race.

Twenty-one sportsman were present including two cars from nearby Fulton Speedway, which canceled their program earlier in the afternoon.

"We tried to wait out the rains," Farney continued. "We just have to take these races one race at a time from here on out. Just pray for better weather."

Canandaigua Speedway is located just east of the village of Canandaigua at the Ontario County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., with racing starting at 7 p.m. sharp. First up this Saturday will be the rain delayed modified consi followed by the 12-lap Street Stock feature and then the 35-lap DIRT Modified main. Following the rain delayed program a complete four star regular night program is on tap.
